Tuesday, Feb. 23. 1965

Rain, rain and more rain. Started during the nite and rained and blew all day. Roads are a mess, they graded them and hauled dirt (clay) on them, last week. Drove to the mail box, ran out of gas, walked back. Rose catalog came, also new Decision magazine. Made Peggy a skirt, pink, blue, yellow stripe. Very pretty. Remade a brown print with black rick rack for Tricia fits and looks so pretty. Gave Destry and calves some hay, and visited Dady when I got the girls. Ray went to Lake Marion to see about all these fish that were being caught. Using skip jack minnows in Blue Cypress but can't get bait because of spraying for hycianths. Same as here with shrimp, they sprayed last week. Still raining a little tonite.

Decision Magazine

Decision Magazine is a Christian publication that was first published in 1960 by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). The magazine's goal is to provide practical and relevant content that helps Christians grow in their faith and make informed decisions about their lives. Rick Rack

Rick rack (also spelled "ricrac" or "ric-rac") is a type of flat decorative zigzag or wave-like pattern trim used in sewing and crafting projects.

Water Hycianth

Water hyacinth is an invasive species in Florida. It has a tendency to proliferate quickly, forming dense mats. When water hyacinth spreads and covers the entire surface of a body of water, it will cause oxygen depletion and kill fish.

Ray eventually quit catfishing and worked for the South Florida Water Management. He and Myrtle also started a small pond spraying business. His knowledge of the Florida lakes and ponds, and the methods used to control water hyacinth, were put to good use.
