Worked at Mrs. Bass’ 6 hours. Made my $7.50. Warm sunny. Denise Driscol spent nite with Peggy. Taxes came, $2.54, were always $1.04.
According to Peggy, “Mrs. Bass lived on Alligator Lake. We all thought she was sort of rich because she had a maid—my mama. Mrs. Bass was also my first grade teacher. She hit me with a ruler and I hated her.”
